The research was co-ordinated by the Marine Biological Association and was supported by Marine Environmental Research/UK Wildlife Trusts, Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust, International Fund for Animal Welfare, Marine Conservation Society and The Shark Trust.

The data gained through this project was instrumental in getting  the Basking Shark listed on the CMS
